Cities, Nations, and a Calling We Can’t Ignore

For a long time, big cities have been seen as strategic places for ministry. And it makes sense—they’re full of movement, life, opportunities, and people. People who live there, who work, study, are just passing through, or are starting over. But we see something deeper: a divine opportunity.
We’re not drawn to cities just because it’s “practical” or “smart.” We want to be there because that’s where the nations are gathering. And when the nations come together, it creates a powerful window for God’s Kingdom to be revealed in ways we’ve never seen before.
This isn’t a modern strategy—it’s something that has been in God’s heart since the beginning.
I remember clearly the day God spoke to us and gave us the name that now defines us: Lives and Tribes. It was clear, direct, like a fire inside us. Later, we saw it again in Revelation, when John describes a vision that still echoes today:
“And I saw a great multitude… from every tribe, tongue, and nation.”
That image marked us. It stirred something deep. It challenged us to dream bigger than ourselves.Because if that is the final picture, shouldn’t we start living with that goal in mind right now?Shouldn’t we train, move, serve, and live with our eyes set on that?
The Urban Pulse and the Roar of the Nations
God’s heart beats for the crowds. Jesus walked among the people. He sought out those the world avoided. He moved where there was noise, culture, need, and opportunity.
That same rhythm is alive today in cities like Melbourne. A modern, vibrant city—full of nations.Even though English is the official language, just walk through the streets and you’ll hear voices from all over the world. You’ll see faces from Asia, Africa, South America, Europe. It’s like standing in an airport without ever leaving the city.
The question is: Are we really seeing what’s happening?
Because this isn’t a coincidence. God is shifting things. Nations are moving, mixing, coming closer. It’s not just about going to the nations anymore—although that’s still essential. It’s also about realizing the nations are now coming to us.
And that’s not an excuse to stay still, it’s a deeper call to respond.
Cities and a Calling We Can’t Ignore: Where the Nations Are Within Reach
So… what are we going to do?
We can’t ignore it. The world has changed. Cities are crying out for redemption. Cultures are clashing, blending, opening up.And we, as Kingdom people, need to be there. Not just preaching, but living with purpose. Serving, loving, learning how to truly connect.
Because the eternal desire of the Father hasn’t changed:He wants to reveal Himself to ALL nations. And now, those nations are standing right in front of us.In your neighborhood. At your school. At your job. In that local café.
There’s only one question left:
What are you going to do about it?
This isn’t the time to watch from the sidelines. It’s time to rise, to prepare, to move. To open our eyes and hearts. To say, “Here I am. Send me.”
